About Us

Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods is dedicated to being a trusted producer of fresh and delicious chilled, prepared foods and baked goods.  Our recipes and menus have been developed over many decades at Ukrop’s Super Markets where our wide variety of traditional, Southern foods were first made.

Aware that customers needed better bakery items, Ukrop’s Super Markets purchased Richmond’s beloved Dot’s Pastry Shop in 1976. Today we still use many of Dot’s original recipes to make baked goods such as Rainbow Cookies, Chocolate Fudge Pie, and Birthday Cake with buttercream icing.  Plus, with a commitment to quality and careful craftsmanship, Ukrop’s Bakery has added to our line of tasty baked goods and special occasion cakes for more than 30 years.

As the 1990s approached, Ukrop’s recognized the changing lifestyles of customers and opened a central production facility to answer a need for fresh and delicious ready-made meals.  Beginning in 1989, Ukrop’s chilled prepared foods quickly became customer favorites; and over the course of two decades, a menu of 150 items was created centrally at Ukrop’s Kitchen.  Ukrop’s Breast of Chicken Salad, Triple Cheese Macaroni and Cheese, and Old Fashioned Potato Salad are among the tops that we still make today.

In 2010, Ukrop’s Super Markets sold its grocery stores after being in the retail food business for more than 72 years.  At the same time, members of the Ukrop family launched a new company, Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods, to continue the tradition of producing the fresh and delicious foods that have become staples in homes throughout Richmond and beyond.  At Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods, we produce classic family favorites like White House Rolls and Chicken Cobbler; plus, we develop new, innovative products, too.  Bringing families back to the table inspires us in our important work as we help to nourish individuals through our fresh and delicious foods.
