We’re excited to celebrate with friends and watch Super Bowl XLV, and to get the kids in the spirit and prepare for our guests we had some fun preparing yummy snacks with Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods found at Martin’s stores. Fun with Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods cornbread
Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods Cornbread and Gingerbread shapes: All that’s needed is a cutting board, fun cookie-cutter shapes and some delicious cornbread and/or gingerbread—we tried both. Kids choose their shapes—from footballs to a bunny rabbit—and cut out their own snacks. Voila!

Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods White House Roll individual sandwiches: to make the easiest and yummiest snacks ever, we let the kids choose what they wanted on their rolls. My little kid chose grape jelly, her big brother peanut butter, and our big boy chose cheese slices which we melted by slipping the sandwich onto a baking sheet under the broiler. They loved making their own choices!

Ukrop’s Frosted Cupcake decorating: We took the Richmond-famous cupcakes (now known around the country!), undecorated, and made our own little masterpieces. Team colors would be a fun addition, although we chose valentine and pink as our little princess typically gets her own way in this arena.

For decorations, kids can make their own paper football chains and even have a toss game where they “win” small prizes for having the longest throw outside before the big game—have fun with it!

Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods offers chili pre-packed ready to grab or available at the Richmond Martin’s soup station warm and ready to eat, and a variety of sizes to make sure you get enough. Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods also makes a Vegetarian Chili that is aslo gluten-free.
In my opinion nothing goes better with chili than cornbread and Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods offers Sweet Cornbread and Jalapeno Cornbread. My kids were fighting over the LAST BITE!
And since no Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods meal is complete without White House Rolls my kids wiped their bowls clean with their rolls.
Everyone has a way they love their chili and my football fans are no different. We lay out a variety of toppings (banana pepper slices, jalapeno slices, shredded cheese, sour cream, an assortment of hot sauces, etc.) so each person can have their chili just the way they like it!
My kids always ask to decorate cookies and cupcakes to create seasonal treats. There is only one little catch to this fun idea. I don’t like to bake. The other day I found these incredibly cute Halloween stencils for cupcakes that I, the I-don’t-like-to-bake girl, had to have! So I popped into Martin’s and grabbed some Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods cupcakes buttercream icing. Grab a few fun decorations and after the kids have decorated and licked things clean there is not much mess left for mom!
Ukrop’s always has seasonal items out but did you know they also made items to help raise awareness for a cause. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and you can find a variety of Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods items in the stores helping raise awareness.
