Favorite Ukrop’s Food: Southern Pecan Pie & Buffalo Chicken Dip

Mary comes to us from Gourmet Foods Inc. in Compton, California where she was a research and development associate, developing a range of meals for airline customers. There she worked to create product samples in a test kitchen environment and created formulations to meet USDA and FDA specifications, focusing on dietary restrictions and vegan requirements.

Previously, Mary worked as a Jr. Product Development Chef with Bakkavor USA in Carson, California.  There she was responsible for development formulation of savory and bakery items for major restaurant and grocery clients.  Mary performed her internship with Dunkin Brands where she worked closely with the corporate pastry chef to create gold standard recipes for products to be sold internally and domestically.  She also created new cake designs that were tested in Baskin Robbins domestic markets.

During her studies at JWU, she fell in love with the science behind the art of baking which ultimately led to a career in product development. Mary is pursuing a master’s degree in Food Science, Health, & Nutrition with an expected graduation date in May 2019.

Favorite Hobby/Pastime: Playing Field Hockey and spending time with family.

Why Ukrop’s?  I chose to join this team because of the positive, supportive environment and the passion for the products Ukrop’s makes. I absolutely love that Ukrop’s plays such a major role in the community here in Richmond, and I knew I wanted to be a part of growing the brand and reaching new customers.
