Bobby Ukrop has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods came into existence in February 2010.
He began his business career in 1962 as a part-time courtesy clerk at Ukrop’s Super Markets, Inc. while attending George Wythe High School. A 1969 graduate from the University of Richmond (where he played basketball and golf) and a 1972 graduate of the Darden School at the University of Virginia, Bobby had a 40-year career at Ukrop’s Super Markets, Inc., the last twelve as President and Chief Executive Officer.
Bobby is actively involved in the community as Chair of SwimRVA whose mission is save lives by drownproofing Richmond, as a member of the Board of the Capital Region Airport Commission which owns and operates the Richmond International Airport, as a board member for Lansing building Products, and as a board member of the Greater Richmond Partnership, our region’s public-private partnership for marketing economic development. He continues to serve as a Life Trustee on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army Central Virginia Area Command. As a Co-Founder and Past Chair of the Richmond Sports Backers, Bobby served on the board for more than 25 years. He previously chaired the board of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce, the Retail Merchants Association (now InUnison), and the Greater Richmond Partnership, the region’s economic development public-private organization. For decades Bobby served on the boards of the University of Richmond and the Collegiate School.
Bobby continues to enjoy golf and swimming. He is a 5th grade Sunday School teacher at Second Baptist Church.
Married to his high school sweetheart Jayne Brown Ukrop since 1969, Bobby and Jayne have four adult children and eleven grandchildren.
