Born in Tappahannock, VA, Ray studied Business Administration at USC Columbia, SC. Fascinated with transporting things since his early days of playing with Tonka trucks in his back yard, his love of trucks launched his 23-year career. He owned and operated a specialized transportation company for 17 years called Criticalship. What began in 2000–grew to a company of 25 employees delivering emergency or special needs industrial items for customers such as Dominion Energy, traveling coast to coast and Canada.
As transportation manager, for Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods, he supervises four drivers. And, to keep his skills sharp, he steps in whenever there’s a need to “keep the wheels turning.” He also sets up truckload deliveries that Ukrop’s may outsource to truck brokers.
Favorite Pastime/Hobby: Time with family and traveling to the mountains—or anywhere I haven’t been!

Why Ukrop’s? I really enjoy working as a team for a company with good corporate ethics and a solid reputation in the community.
