You may have noticed a bioengineered statement on our products or other products you purchase. As of 1/1/2022, we are required by law to state if a product contains a bioengineered food ingredient in it or not. If it does, the statement will be displayed near the barcode or ingredient statement.
The majority of Ukrop’s products with this statement are triggered because they contain corn. For example: Corn starch is an ingredient in baking powder which is a leavening agent in most of our cakes. Bioengineered corn is produced commercially in 15 countries including the US and is prevalent in the supply chain.
