Join Ukrop's as an Industrial Oven Room- Area Lead, where you'll be responsible for leading an assigned production area within our manufacturing operation. This full-time, onsite role in Chesterfield, Virginia, is ideal for individuals seeking to grow their career in food manufacturing. What it's like to be a Industrial Oven Room Area Lead at Ukrop's

As a Industrial Oven Area Room Lead plays a hands-on leadership role, overseeing daily production activities, ensuring food safety and quality standards are met, and supporting associates through training, communication, and problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees an assigned area within the manufacturing operation which may consist of 5-20 associates working to meet production during a shift.
  • Ensures staffing levels are sufficient to operate a production area/ manufacturing area safely and effectively. Immediately notify the Shift Supervisor when there is an issue with staffing that will hinder production or present a safety risk.
  • Provides regular feedback on processes/production issues and provides training to area Associates. Makes recommendations for process improvement; implements adopted process improvements.
  • Ensures all Associates are trained on and adhere to GMPs, adopted GFSI and quality standards, sanitation, and general safety, and HACCP procedures if applicable.
  • Regularly communicates with Shift Supervisor(s) and/ or Shift Manager regarding root cause of inefficiencies, difficulty in achieving production schedule, Associate training/ re-training needs, disciplinary action needs. Assists Shift Supervisor(s) in creating work schedules for his/ her manufacturing areas.
  • Supports GFSI and FSMA. Assists in ensuring that the SQF system is in place and that we are in compliance with all aspects of HACCP plan, SSOPs, and GMPs throughout the plant. Reports all food safety issues to an immediate supervisor.
  • Prioritizes order fulfillment.
  • Ensures raw materials (including packaging materials) are staged and available to the production area.
  • Ensures products meet food safety and quality standards.
  • Ensures all paperwork- sanitation, safety, HACCP, batch tickets are correct and complete.
  • Conducts PRE- and POST-OP inspections of the area. Identifies, corrects and/or reports all hazards to the Shift
  • Supervisor(s).
  • Supports an accident-free work culture. Assists in accident prevention and risk identification. Collaborates with HR/Safety Manager to minimize risk exposure from ingredients, equipment, or ergonomics.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED REQUIRED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in manufacturing supervision REQUIRED; experience in a continuous operation (24/7), food manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience leading teams.
  • A minimum of one (1) year working in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is REQUIRED.
  • Proficiency in a second language (Spanish, Vietnamese, or Mandarin) is preferred not required.
  • Knowledge in lean manufacturing principles, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), SQF (Safe Quality Food), and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) plans preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a refrigerated production environment with exposure to temperature variations:
  • Work performed primarily in a production plant environment.
  • Exposure to cold refrigerated and warm areas.
  • Use of industrial kitchen equipment and machinery.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and pushing/pulling.
  • Manual dexterity and visual/hearing acuity required.
